We’ll look at the Grand Canyon later, so let’s move on. We saw that PP

evolutionists believe the earth is about 4.5 billion years old and life began in the seas about 3.8 billion years ago. They also believe the base rock of the earth, granite, took 300 million years to cool into rock from its original molten form.

As we saw in the video, radioactive atoms decay to atoms of a different stable type as these slides show. PPx3

For example, Uranium 238 eventually decays to lead. The number 238 indicates the number of protons and neutrons in the nucleus and signifies how heavy the element is. PP

By measuring how much of a parent element (in this example, U238) has decayed into its end product (in this example, lead), and by knowing its rate of decay, most geologists believe they can accurately assess the date when the parent was incorporated into the rock and therefore the period of time that has elapsed since the rock was formed. We just saw the fallacies inherent in those assumptions. By the way, you continually see those millions of years ages stated as a scientific fact in articles and TV shows. Have you ever seen the assumptions that they have made mentioned?

We saw that the term PP

half-life is used in these dating methods and that a half-life is simply the time required for half the atoms in any radioactive collection to decay. If 1000 atoms exist at a certain time, then PP only 500 atoms will remain after 1 half-life, PP 250 after 2, PP 125 after 3, PP 62 after 4, 31 after 5, 15 after 6, 7 after 7, 3.5 after 8, and 1.75 after 9, etc. So after 10 half-lives only a tiny amount of the radioactive atoms remain. So to use an example,

if Carbon 14 has a half-life of about 5730 years, and assuming uniformitarianism is true (it isn’t), how far back can C14 be used for dating something? Approximately 5700 years x 10 = approximately 60,000 years (57,300).

Now to how long it really took the granite to form. This picture PP (Polonium 218)

shows the radioactive halo left by certain Polonium elements in granite. PP(2) Here are similar color photos. These Polonium elements are not just found on or near the surface of the rock, but throughout the rock. This is interesting because the polonium found includes PP

Polonium 210, which has a half-life of 138.4 days. That means that the rock would have to harden before that radioactive isotope had fully decayed or there would be no trace of it in the rock!

I know that’s hard to follow, so let’s use a simple example – PP

the Alka-Seltzer! Think of the beginning of the effervescence as the instant that polonium atoms began to decay and emit radioactive particles. Traces of those particles would disappear as quickly in “liquid” rock as bubbles from the Alka-Seltzer disappear in water. But if the water was instantly frozen the bubbles would be frozen. Just as the frozen bubbles would be clear evidence of the instantaneous freezing of the water, in like manner polonium halos are undeniable evidence that the rock containing them was rapidly cooled (frozen) as solid granite.

So how quickly would the rock have had to decay before the P210 disappeared? PP

Right, 138.4 days times 10=1384 days, or less than 4 years. So much for the evolutionary assumption of 300 millions years.

But we still have a problem don’t we? PP

How long did God take to form the land? Less than one day on day three of creation, not 4 years (Gen. 1:8, 9-10, 13). So this evidence doesn’t fit the Bible story of creation. In fact, it would disprove it! But God gave us the answer to that also! The granite rock also contains P214. Guess what the PP

half-life of P214 is? PP

164---microseconds, that’s .000164 of a second. So, for any evidence of that element to exist in granite, the rock would have to cool in less than 1 second! PP

Please look at Psalm 33:9. We just saw scientific evidence strongly supporting that verse.

Back to Genesis; verse 11, which we’ve already reviewed, stated PP:

“Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with seed in them, on the earth”; and it was so.” Genesis 1:12 & 13 PP

“And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their kind, and God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.”

It’s quiz time again. While we haven’t covered the germane verses yet, we should be able to answer the age-old question PP: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? With a Christian worldview, this is a no-brainer. Of course, PP

the chicken came before the egg! We see in these verses that the trees were created mature, that is, with seeds in them. The same process, as we’ll see, applies to the remainder of creation, with everything created mature, including the chicken.

But here we are seeing the creation of vegetation, plants and fruit trees. The plants and fruit trees already have the seeds in them.

A seed ,also referred to as a kernel in some plants, is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. It is the product of the ripened ovule of plants which occurs after fertilization and some growth within the mother plant. The formation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in seed plants (started with the development of flowers and pollination.

Based on where we are in the creation events, what do you see that is interesting? PP

First, it refers to stored food, yet of course there is no food that existed prior to this. PP

Second, PP

it occurs after fertilization and some growth within the mother plant. So we have to have fertilization within the mother plant to have the seed, yet the insects and birds necessary to complete the fertilization do not yet exist in our creation time line, no does the sun!

As we read these creation events, keep in mind that millions of people believe the Bible is a fairy tale written by human authors. What human author would write a creation story with a millions of years backdrop having plants in existance before the sun was created and before the insects necessary to pollinate them existed! The story only makes sense if the days of Genesis Chapter 1 are meant to be literal 24-hour days. Otherwise all the plants and trees would quickly die.

Evolutionists have no idea about the origin of the seed, or any other form of life for that matter. Yet each seed is a tiny factory with the power to perpetuate itself. Scientists can analye and take apart the many chemical elements of the seed, but no one can build a synthetic seed. Every seed is only produced by an amazing pattern of sexual union determined by the special construction of the parent plant. We don’t have time to delve into seeds or plants, but keep in mind that each plant is also a factory that converts raw dirt plus common water, carbon dioxide and sunshine into useful and edible products. It all happens in the most efficient manufacturing system imaginable, without even a whisper of noise. If it weren’t for plants we’d all choke to death. They exhale the oxygen we need while we dispose of the carbon dioxide they need. Without these in place, man’s time on earth would have been short-lived in the form God created him.

In these verses we have the origin of plants, trees, seeds, and the oxygen generating system of the earth. They were created on day three of creation, the same day the land they generally reside on was created. But we must move on in the interest of time.

Genesis 1:14 & 15 states PP:

“Then God said, “let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.”

Here we see the creation of heavenly bodies to generate light. The expanse of the heavens is not the same as the expanse we saw in verse eight that He called heaven. Here He is referring to the atmosphere and beyondWe’ll see exactly which bodies He’s referring to in the next verses, but for now let’s focus on their purpose: PP

“to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years…” What do you see PP

that is unusual in their purpose? We’ve discussed that the year, the month and the day are determined relative to the sun and the moon, as are the seasons, but what about “let them be for signs”? PP

The Hebrew word used here for “signs” means a signal, as a flag, beacon, monument, omen.”

Without being dogmatic I propose that it relates to the constellations in the stars that we refer to as the PP

Zodiac.

Nearly all the ancient nations, including Egypt, Persia, Assyria, Babylonia and Greece had in their writings a description of the major stars in the heavens, which we know as “The Constellations of the Zodiac.” They had the same twelve signs representing the same twelve things placed in the same order. What is interesting is the stars in the heavens representing those signs bear no resemblance to the pictures of the signs themselves.

Job, which is believed to be the oldest book in the Bible, speaks of the Zodiac in Job 38: 31 & 32. Mazzaroth (King James Version) is a Hebrew word that means “The Constellations of the Zodiac.” So, in Job, which may be the oldest book in history, the Zodiac was clearly known and understood. However their original meaning has been corrupted into something that is demonic and counterfeit, resulting in what is known as modern day astrology. The Bible repeatedly warns against astrology and condemns those that practice it (Deut. 17:2-5).

We don’t have time to review each of the signs of the zodiac. If you have interest in this subject I refer you to the late Dr. D. James Kennedy’s The Real Meaning of the Zodiac, in which he postulates that God could have given to all the world a proclamation of the Gospel in the stars. Let’s look at just one example. In Genesis 3:15 the Gospel is first proclaimed PP

(the protoevangelium): “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” It says that Christ shall bruise Satan’s head (destroy him eternally) and Satan shall bruise Christ’s heel (His death on the cross). When we look at Scorpio PP

that is exactly what we see. We have Ophiuchus about to be struck in the heel as he holds the serpent in his hand. His heel is about to step on the scorpions head. It’s an interesting subject, but we need to move on.

Genesis 1:16-19 states PP:

“And God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. And God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.”

Let’s start with the lesser light that governs the night. That obviously is the moon. PP

All obvious to us today is that the moon does not generate it’s own light; it reflects the light of the sun. Evolutionists postulate that the moon is the same age as the earth, or 4.5 billion years, give or take a few million years. Some claim that the Moon formed from debris splashed from Earth by a Mars-size impact. However, the impactor’s glancing blow would b\either be too slight to form our large moon, or so violent that the earth would end up spinning too fast.

I recently saw a program, either on the Discovery or History channel which postulated the above theory. I was amazed at how confidently they stated the position, as though it was a known fact. I was amazed because it is obvious to anyone that bothers to do a liitle research that the moon could not have come from the earth! Why is that? Because the material of the moon is too dissimilar from that of the earth. This fact was never mentioned on that program. The program also was couched in the normal millions and billions of years scenario. Mathematics would show that is impossible. The moon is receding from the earth 1.5 inches a year (3.82 cm). For example, six thousand years ago, the moon would have been about 750 feet closer to the earth (which is not much of a change, considering the moon is a quarter of a million miles away). So this “spiraling away” of the moon is not a problem over the biblical timescale of 6,000 years. But if the earth and moon were over four billion years old (as evolutionists teach), then we would have big problems. In this case, the moon, which is now an average 240,000 miles from the earth, would have been so close that it would actually have been touching the earth only 1.4 billion years ago. This problem suggests that the moon can’t possibly be as old as secular astronomers claim. Isn’t it interesting that the moon, like the earth, is 93 million miles from the sun, yet it is completely devoid of life while the earth teems with life.

Relative to the greater light, which is the sun, there are also huge problems with the evolutionary time frame. PP

The age of the sun. The sun is continually converting hydrogen to helium, PP

which means it will get brighter as it ages. PP At 4.6 billion years of age, the current evolutionist estimate, it would now be 40% brighter than at its formation. PP Looking backwards, the average temperature of the earth today is estimated to be 59 degrees Fahrenheit. The evolutionist believes life began on the earth 3.5 billion years ago. However, the sun would have been 25% less bright than it is now, PP resulting in a 32 degree reduction in the average temperature, PP yielding an average temperature at that time of just 27 degrees Fahrenheit! Life at that temperature would be impossible.

While we’re in our solar system, let’s look at some other problems with a 4.5 billion year life.

Seven of the eight planets of our solar system follow highly circular orbits, despite the fact that NASA must plan with great precision to put a satellite into a nearly circular orbit and have difficulty keeping it there very long. Modern theories predict our planets should have developed abnormalities in their orbits long ago, producing wildly elliptical orbits.

There is no natural reason why the outward force produced by this revolving should so perfectly counterbalance gravitation, except that if it didn’t, all these spinning systems would either crash in on themselves or fly apart, but PP Colossians 1:16 & 17 give us the answer: “For by him all things were created, both in the heavens and on the earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things have been created by Him, and for him; and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”

If Jupiter had fallen into such an orbit, it would bring showers of asteroids into our planet’s path. Instead, Jupiter serves PP

as a cosmic vacuum cleaner, attracting asteroids and comets to itself and keeping our earth’s path clear for extended periods.

Also, Jupiter emits twice as much radiation as it receives from the sun, while Neptune emits 2.7 times as much as it receives. Yet, if our solar system was billions of years old, both should be cold planets by now, but they aren’t.

Finally in our discussion of Jupiter, the highly circular orbit of Jupiter and its great mass, also keeps the Earth in a highly circular orbit. Without Jupiter’s influence, the Earth would orbit the Sun in a highly elliptical orbit, with extremes of heat when close to the Sun and cold when farthest from the Sun, making life on the Earth impossible.

Before we move on, let’s look at the relative speeds of the earth PP:

Overall motion of the galaxy..................1,100,000 mph

We need to address the last part of verse 16 PP:

“He made the stars also.” Let’s take a look at the immensity this phrase refers to. PPx5

Here is a simple way to somewhat comprehend the vast distances we are talking about. If our solar system was the size of the circle formed by putting my thumb and fingers together, our Milky Way galaxy would be larger than the United States! By the way, as an interesting point of reference, when you look at the moon 217,000 miles away, remember it is about the size of Australia.

Isn’t it interesting that God only devotes five words to that immensity. Why do you think that is? Because all of creation is made to glorify God and for the benefit of man.

Think with me for a minute. If we are the product of random natural processes that did not have us in mind, why would the universe be comprehensible? Yet Einstein stated PP:

“The most incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible.” From an evolutionary standpoint, the comprehensibility of the universe is astonishing! It certainly has nothing to do with the survival of the fittest on the earth. There is no reason why we should be able to understand it, yet we do. And the more we understand about it the more we realize how PP

finely tuned it has to be for life to exist. PP

When I first began discussing this fine tuning, astronomers had identified 60 parameters in the universe and our solar system that must have values falling within narrowly defined ranges for life of any kind to exist at any time in the history of the universe. That is now up to PP

322 parameters and the fine tuning is beyond our comprehension.

To demonstrate how PP

fine that tuning is, it’s appropriate to start with this 1” cube. How is this evidence for creation? Only because it helps to visualize what we’re about to discuss.

This PP

universe creating machine provides a simple example of those parameters. We have just a few of those 322 parameters demonstrated here, but turn just one of these dials very slightly and life would not exist.

The odds of only 60 of these 322 parameters occurring randomly can be demonstrated by this cube. PP

A 1” cube contains a billion, billion, billion atoms. Let’s see what that looks like. PP

1,000,000,000, PP 000,000,000, PP 000,000,000

That has 27 zeros (10 to the 27th). A huge number! Keep in mind that the addition of each zero increases the previous magnitude 10 fold!

If you were to be blindfolded and pick the only marked atom out of the cube - that’s not the odds we’re discussing. If you were to spread these cubes over this whole floor and pick one cube and the only marked atom out of that cube - that’s not the odds. If you covered the state of Texas with these cubes and picked one cube and then the only marked atom out of that cube - that’s not the odds. If you covered China with these cubes and did the same thing - that’s not the odds! If you covered the surface of the earth with 1” cubes, blindfolded someone and they picked the one cube that contained that marked atom and then picked the marked atom, that depicts the odds of the parameters being generated randomly!

Statisticians tell us that odds greater than 10 to the 50th power are impossible. A single one inch cube contains 10 to the 27th power and we’ve only addressed less than 20% of those parameters, so it’s clear that those parameters did not occur randomly, they were specifically designed to support us! Let’s examine a few of those parameters. PP

If the strength of the gravitational force were altered by a mere one part in 10 to the 40th power, stars like the sun would not exist, nor would any form of life that depends on solar-type stars for sustenance. To visualize that, imagine a PP

ruler divided into 1” increments and stretched across the width of the universe (nearly 14 billion light years, with a light year approximating 5.9 trillion miles ) represents the possible range of the force of gravity. If the existing location on the ruler was moved PP

just 1” any life forms larger than the size of a pea would be crushed.

Scientists have calculated the number of PP

supernovas, which are remnants of exploding stars, which should be observable based on the estimated age of the universe. Here’s an example of a supernova. PPx3

If the universe is billions of years old we should find a lot of supernovas out there. This PP

chart reflects what has actually observed in space regarding supernova formation:

Obviously, the observed data supports a young age for the universe.

Here are some other problems with an old universe:

Spiral galaxies spin, with the inside of the spiral spinning faster than the outside. PP

The stars of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, rotate about the galactic center with different speeds, the inner ones rotating faster than the outer ones. The observed rotation speeds are so fast that if our galaxy were more than a few hundred million years old, it would be a featureless disc of stars instead of its present spiral shape.

While evolutionists state without equivocation in many textbooks that stars are formed by the gravitational collapse of gas clouds, PP

the birth of a star has never been observed! Here’s a quote from Dr. Don DeYoung: PP

“The complete birth of a star has never been observed. The principles of physics demand some special conditions for star formation and also for a long time period. A cloud of hydrogen gas must be compressed to a sufficiently small size so that gravity dominates. PP

In space, however, almost every gas cloud is light-years in size, hundreds of times greater than the critical size needed for a stable star. As a result, outward gas pressures cause these clouds to spread out farther, not contract.”

This is a picture of an estimated two million galaxies. Astronomers estimate that PP

there are 100 billion galaxies (10¹¹) with 200 billion stars per galaxy (2 x 10¹º). While the universe is estimated to be “only” 13.5 billion years old, we’ll use 20 billion years in the calculation we’re about to do to be conservative (2 x 10¹º). I’m using the larger number because it is the denominator in an equation and a larger denominator of course yields a smaller answer. PP

Those conservative estimates yield a big problem for evolutionists! Because when we then calculate the number of stars that would have to be formed per year for each of those 20 billion years PP

(100 billion galaxies times PP 200 billion stars divided by PP 20 billion years) PP the answer is 1,000 billion, or PP1 trillion stars each of those 20 billion years, or PP 2.7 billion stars per day, or PP 31, 700 stars per second! Yet, as we have noted above, the formation of even one star has never been observed!
